Overview
RN, Labor & Delivery Unit, H2 at Summa Health
Responsibilities
Guided by knowledge of the basic principles of nursing and applies judgment supported by evidence and nursing theory in the delivery of nursing care.
Provides, coordinates and/or delegates nursing care and manages resources in the delivery of care for patients, the family of patients, and the community with the goal of attaining, maintaining and restoring optimum health.
Formal Education Required
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Applicants with an Associate's degree will be considered but are required to obtain BSN within three (3) years of employment
Graduate of a program of professional nursing accredited by CCNE or ACEN
Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio
Experience And Training Required
PRN RNs must have at least one year of recent experience in the area of practice
One year of related RN experience is required for weekend option positions
Additional related prior experience and/or preparation may be required for specialty units
Other Skills, Competencies And Qualifications
Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal ranges
Ability to work under stressful conditions or irregular hours
Exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation and other hazards common to a clinical environment
Maintains current Basic Life Support; ACLS may be required within specified timelines depending on unit requirements
Population Specific Competency
Additional education or certifications may be required for specialty areas (e.g., PALS)
Ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations
Level Of Physical Demands
Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally; 25-50 pounds frequently; 10-20 pounds continuously to move objects
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $33.75/hr - $53.00/hr (base salary, excludes bonuses/differentials)
