Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Westpac Banking Corporation Full time

WIB Credit Officer, Level 2
- Permanent role
- Sydney based - flexible working options
- Excellent opportunity to join Westpac's Institutional Bank.

**How will I help?**

Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB) manages the financial needs of corporate, institutional, multinational and government clients that are based, or have interests in, Australia and New Zealand. The WIB Institutional Credit Team is responsible for the approval and management of counterparty credit risk.

As a Senior Credit Officer, you will be responsible for the credit approval and risk management of a portfolio, which directly supports WIB's Financial Institutions, Public Sector and Health (FIPSH) Industry teams. This industry group also includes the Customer Insights and Analytics (CI&A) team, a dedicated global team of analysts that provide deep customer and customer insights. FIPSH coverage spans a portfolio of Bank, Public Sector and NBFI counterparties (Insurance, Funds, Clearing Houses & Securitisation). The Senior Credit officer role is a critical partner in the pre-screening of pipeline opportunities with Relationship Coverage bankers, assessing credit appetite, identifying key issues, providing structuring input on financing options, driving internal analytical work, managing the credit approval process as well as maintaining ongoing credit oversight of portfolio. Additionally, responsibility also extends to approvals related to Financial Market Limit requirements in support of WIB Treasury and Financial Markets activity.

Other responsibilities will include:

- Managing a portfolio of Institutional credit exposures in compliance with WIB's policies, processes and best practices, including early recognition of problem loans and implementation of remediation plans.
- Demonstrating prudent and clear judgment in the assessment and approval of the credit risk within the business.
- Communicating clearly and concisely with key stakeholders, particularly with respect to any risks outside of risk appetite, required modifications to deal structures or any required additional due diligence necessary for approval.
- Working closely with the business to optimise risk utilisation and maximise WIB's returns from the defined / available risk appetite
- Contributing to the strategic positioning of WIB to ensure that credit strategies and policies are appropriately aligned with business units' objectives
- Contributing to the development of a sound credit culture within the business.
