**What's the role?**

You'll step into a pivotal role at the heart of Westpac Institutional Bank, where your credit expertise will shape the future of some of Australia's most significant corporate relationships. Based in Sydney or Melbourne and working full-time, you'll lead the credit risk assessment and portfolio management for high-value institutional clients. You'll collaborate closely with teams across Trade, Asset and Acquisition Finance, and Customer Coverage to drive strategic outcomes.

This isn't just about approvals—it's about influence, foresight, and building a resilient credit culture that supports growth, innovation, and long-term value. You'll also have the flexibility to broaden your impact across other portfolios as needed.

**What do I need?**

We're looking for a strategic thinker with a strong credit backbone and a collaborative mindset. Here's what will set you up for success:

- **Strategic credit judgment**- You've got a proven ability to assess complex credit scenarios, identify early warning signs, and implement proactive remediation strategies that protect and grow the bank's position.
- **Institutional banking experience**- You bring deep experience (ideally 10+ years) in corporate credit within an institutional lending environment, with a strong grasp of risk-return dynamics and market context.
- **Delegated authority and leadership**- You've held credit approval authority before, or you're ready to step into it, with the confidence to make high-impact decisions and the wisdom to know when to challenge or support.
- **Product and sector insight**- You understand the nuances of Property and Acquisition Finance and can navigate legal documentation like term sheets and ISDAs with ease.
- **Influence and collaboration**- You're a natural communicator who builds trust, negotiates effectively, and partners across teams to deliver commercial outcomes aligned with risk appetite.
