**ABOUT THE COMPANY**
NECA Electrical Apprenticeships (NECA EA) is a not-for-profit group training organisation that employs over 750 apprentices in the ACT, NSW, QLD and WA. NECA EA is owned by the National and Electrical Communications Association (NECA) and provides quality apprentices to the electrical industry.
**ABOUT THE ROLE**
Exciting opportunity in WA
Reporting to the Business Innovations Manager / General Manager, the main purpose of this role is to be the key on-the-ground representative in Western Australia as we establish a new branch of our GTO. This includes apprentice recruitment and placement, and ensuring that apprentices' on and off-the-job training and WHS obligations are met in WA. The position will handle field operations and liaise with our East Coast teams for back-office functions (such as payroll, finance and workers compensation).
This position will liaise with NECA's existing interstate Group Training Organisations (GTOs) for additional support as required, ensuring the operation is backed by our broader network of GTOs.
A fully maintained company vehicle will be provided (currently a ute), including provision of a fuel card, toll tag and mobile phone.
The office is located on Suite 5, 375 Charles Street North Perth, WA 6006, however this is a hybrid role with lots of flexibility to work from other locations and manage your own schedule.
**WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**
This role would be perfect for a qualified electrician that enjoys being out on the road, mentoring apprentices and building relationships with our Host Employers and apprentices.
Must have an Electrical Licence, a current Australian drivers licence and a Working With Children Check (or the ability to pass a WWCC).
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Manage the recruitment and operations of additional WA-based employees as the branch grows. This will result in the delegation of some of the duties in this PD to others in the team down the track
- Liaise directly with Host Employers and Apprentices on placement/rotation details
- Review RTO results and SkillsTracker/e-profiling of apprentices to ensure work experience is appropriate
- Prepare and conduct Induction day presentations to new apprentices when and as required
- Attend visits to the RTO to monitor apprentice behaviour, results, attendance and for pastoral care of the apprentice
- Participate in disciplinary meetings or other formal meetings with apprentices
- Develop and maintain good communication with RTO Trainers to facilitate discussion of any issues concerning the apprentice
- Visit Host work sites to monitor the "on-the-job" component of apprentice training whilst also providing pastoral care to the apprentices
- Conduct safety checks at the work site
- Maintain an apprentice visit schedule
- Promote NECA EA to host employers, at schools, industry career days, information sessions and other sessions as required
- Ensure the apprentice is working in a safe environment and that risk assessments and toolbox meetings are being undertaken by the host
- Enforce NECA EA's safety/other policies
- Attend award presentations as required to represent NECA EA and/or assist/present awards on the day
- When necessary, take an apprentice to seek medical attention or to assist with a Return to Work plan and duties
- Administration of paperwork and documents
- Liaise with the Australian Apprenticeships Support Network provider and government bodies responsible for apprenticeship training contracts to ensure the Company's obligations are met
- Maintain a focus on avoiding any downtime for apprentices
- Ensure complaints and grievances from both Host Trainers and apprentices are recorded, followed up and resolved in a timely and professional manner
- Manage known potential welfare issues
- Ensure apprentices' profiling is monitored, apprentices remain up to date and in appropriate placements to progress their trade. Where apprentices are not up to date, manage the process of catching up
- Processing apprentice personal injuries and worker's compensation claims and ensuring correct Return to Work procedures are followed, maintained and documented
- WA Mandatory Certification checks - Ensure that all WA apprentices have all mandatory certifications required for access to Construction sites in WA and arrange the necessary training
- Audio-metric testing - arrange this testing and ensuring that Apprentices are tested in line with WA requirements
- Remaining abreast of the state of industry, in particular having current knowledge of likely future host requirements for apprentices
- Working with NECA's broader groups of business and entities (ie NECA Group/Shared Service etc)
- Other relevant duties as required
**CRITERIA**
- Electrical Trade (Licensed Electrician)
- Ability to converse at all levels of the industry (with apprentices, directors, supervisors and RTO Trainers)
- Ability to pass a Working with Children check
- At least five years' experi
