This is where you come in.Role Description:The Government Affairs Advisor is an exciting 12-month Max-Term Contract opportunity in our Policy & Social Value team based at our Perth Central Park office.
This role plays a pivotal part in managing Synergy's engagement with key Ministerial and State Government stakeholders, ensuring the timely and accurate flow of information that supports strategic decision-making and protects organisational reputation.
Reporting to the Manager Government Relations, the Advisor will be responsible for preparing high-quality correspondence, briefing notes, and responses to parliamentary questions and government queries.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of government processes, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal subject matter experts and external stakeholders.
This is a dynamic and fast-paced role suited to someone who thrives on critical thinking, attention to detail, and building trusted relationships.
If you're passionate about public policy, stakeholder engagement, and contributing to Western Australia's energy future, we'd love to hear from you.Job responsibilities: Prepare and coordinate responses to parliamentary questions, general government queries, and requests for information, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Draft briefing notes and correspondence for the Minister for Energy on matters related to Synergy's operations, strategy, and customer-related issues.
Manage relationships with internal subject matter experts to gather relevant information and ensure alignment in communications provided to government stakeholders.
Support the Manager Government Relations in maintaining effective engagement with Ministerial offices, State Government agencies, and other external stakeholders.
Contribute to reputational risk management by ensuring all communications are consistent, clear, and aligned with Synergy's strategic objectives and values.
What you will bring: A tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline such as public policy, government, corporate affairs, law, or public relations.
Demonstrated experience in a government-facing role, such as government relations, corporate affairs, customer service, or as an electorate officer.
A sound understanding of government structures, processes, and stakeholder engagement.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
A proactive, detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
