The opportunity:
AIA is building a new modern data and analytics platform using Azure Databricks. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced lead data modeller to join our Technology team. This role will play a pivotal role in designing enterprise data model for the new data platform. It will require significant stakeholder engagement, helping define requirements, driving design, development of fit-for-purpose enterprise data model, take ownership of Data model, ensuring availability and stability, while promoting a high performing and collaborative environment.
This is a 12 month contract opportunity, can be based in Sydney or Melbourne and will report into the Head of Data platforms and Analytics.
To do this successfully you will:
- Lead the design and development of conceptual, logical, and physical data models to meet the needs of the insurance business using best practices for data modelling
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and analyse data requirements, ensuring that the data models align with business objectives.
- Lead implementation of Data Model: Work closely with ETL developers, data engineers, and database administrators to ensure data models are properly implemented and integrated with data warehouses and other data systems.
- Analyse and optimize data models for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data models, data dictionaries, and related artifacts
- Mentor and guide data modellers and analysts
- Present data models and findings to stakeholders, explaining complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- A bachelor's degree in IT or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience of enterprise data modelling, ideally in insurance domain
- In depth knowledge of designing and implementing enterprise data model using dimensional modelling approach in at least 2-3 enterprise data transformation projects.
- Experience in relevant industry data model such as Accord Insurance data model
- Proficiency in SQL and Data modelling tool like Erwin
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
