**About the National Measurement Institute**:
The National Measurement Institute (NMI) is the measurement science, services and regulatory division of the Department of Industry, Science and Resources. As well as being Australia's link into international measurement activities including those of the Metre Treaty and OIML Convention, NMI is Australia's peak measurement body, responsible for maintaining and disseminating Australia's physical measurement standards, and providing a range of biological, chemical, legal, and physical measurement services including through the administration of the National Measurement Act. NMI has a national footprint, with research laboratories in Melbourne and Sydney. We value the different skills, knowledge and perspectives our staff bring. NMI's key functions include:
- Providing calibration and testing services with the highest accuracy measurements available in Australia and providing traceability to the SI units of measurement.
- Producing reference materials for use in Chemical and Biological analysis.
- Participating internationally in metrological activities involving research, development and collaborations with international metrological partners.
- Developing standards and regulations that facilitate the functioning of the Australian economy.
- Ensuring that industries have access to measurement infrastructure that aligns with government policies.
- Developing and harmonising legal metrology at a national, international and regional levels.
**About the team**:
The two positions are within the NMI Quality, Safety and Risk Team, which works alongside technical and scientific personnel, supporting them to deliver metrological services to Australian industry. The group is also responsible for continuous improvement and maintenance of the NMI Quality Management System and the provision of a safe working environment. The roles will work closely with the Quality colleagues at our other sites.

To be successful in this role, you will have a technical background and have previously worked in an organisation with an accredited quality system. You will have a strong customer focus and the drive and initiative to keep technical teams engaged with quality improvements across the organisation.
- Knowledge of quality systems, specifically accredited to ISO/IEC 17025
- Experience in internal auditing, preferably as a lead auditor
- The ability to identify key quality priorities and implement system improvements
- Experience drafting, reviewing and controlling documentation
- Identifying and implementing preventative and corrective actions, and continuous improvements related to quality
- Providing training and guidance to staff on quality matters
- Ability to develop and maintain strong, professional relationships at all levels within the organisation
- Comfortable dealing with different types of technologies and people
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications in Science.
