
User Experience Designer

The primary responsibility of User Experience (UX) Designer is to use human-centred design skills to empathise with the departments practitioners and translate complex business and technical requirements into customer friendly, easy to use services that will delight and deliver a positive experience.
The UX Designer will work closely with project streams across the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) to deliver an exceptional customer service experience for the department products and services undertaking both Customer research, design, and testing. The UX Designer will also collaborate with support teams, including Media and Public Affairs to design and build new products for the Transformation Program. The UX Designer will be expected to set and document UX standards for the department.
The UX Designer role will report to the Chief Portfolio Officer. The PMO reports into the Building System Technology (BST) division.
**Key Accountabilities**
- Collaborating with Project team(s) to understand and develop User Experience inputs into processes, UI designs, etc
- Undertake User/Customer research
- Design responsive screen layouts for developers to implement
- Assist the Business in understanding of design and process optimisation for their Users/Customers
- Conduct user research/testing sessions to identify usability challenges and test improvements.
- Define and document UX principles for reusable and/or extensible components
**Key Selection criteria**
**Knowledge and skills**
- Experience designing for business enterprise-level digital projects.
- Demonstrated ability to design best practice intuitive digital experiences, with expertise in user-centred design processes.
- Demonstrated use of design methods including high-level customer journey maps for defined personas, prototyping, and visual communication tools to explore the possibilities and their viability
- Ability to run design and test/validation workshops and with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to undertaken user/customer research and produce relevant artefacts of information gathered
- Proven ability to work closely with other disciplines and roles as part of an agile, cross-functional team and manage feedback, iterations, and approvals for creations.
- Proven stakeholder management capabilities, strong influence, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strong verbal and written skills.
- Salesforce experience is desirable given the build is based on the **Salesforce Lightning** and **Salesforce Community Portal** platforms, and thus design must be feasible and within the boundaries of what can be achieved with **Salesforce**.
- Experience using collaborative tools such as, **JIRA**, **FIGMA**
- Ability to be pro-active, professional, customer focused, organised and self-managed to deliver a consistently high level of output and service in a deadline and fast paced driven environment.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills including well developed written and oral communication skills.
- A 'can do' attitude and a person who enjoys driving change across a business.
- Natural curiosity and interest to fully understand user motivation and pain points.
- Ability to put yourself in the user shoes, understand potential problems and be a champion for the user throughout the design, production, and implementation process.
- Ability to deal with ambiguous, undefined problems and adapt to changing business needs.
- Ability to balance delivery of competing concurrent work and manage expectations
**Project Specific Skills**
**Skills dealing with stakeholders and running workshops**:
- **Active listening**: Attentively listening to stakeholders, understanding their concerns, and acknowledging their perspectives is crucial for building rapport and fostering collaboration.
- **Communication and presentation skills**: Clearly and effectively presenting ideas, concepts, and designs to different stakeholders, both in one-on-one meetings and group workshops, ensures everyone is on the same page.
- **Facilitation skills**: The ability to plan, organise, and lead workshops, ensuring that discussions remain focused, productive, and aligned with project objectives.
- **Conflict resolution**: Addressing disagreements or misunderstandings among stakeholders and facilitating constructive discussions that lead to a consensus or compromise.
**UX design skills for Salesforce**:
- **Familiarity with Salesforce Design System (SLDS)**: Understanding Salesforce's design system and its components ensures consistent and seamless interfaces that align with the platform's look and feel.
- **Knowledge of Salesforce platform limitations and customization capabilities**: Understanding the constraints and possibilities within the platform that helps create designs that can be efficiently implemented by developers.
