An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join a rapidly growing investment firm based in Sydney. This role offers you the chance to expand your expertise beyond traditional corporate accounting, with exposure to fund management and family office operations. You will be welcomed into a supportive and knowledgeable team that values collaboration, continuous learning, and professional growth.
What you'll do
Take ownership of accounts payable processes with medium transaction volume, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all payments.
Manage accounts receivable functions with low volume transactions, maintaining clear records and effective communication with stakeholders.
Liaise directly with external trustees to coordinate payment instructions, fostering dependable relationships built on trust and clarity.
Perform bank reconciliations for approximately 60 cash accounts across multiple currencies, demonstrating attention to detail and organisational skills.
Process staff expense reimbursements and manage corporate credit card transactions efficiently, supporting colleagues across the business.
Reconcile inter-company loans accurately, ensuring all balances are up-to-date and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
Prepare period-end closing accruals, contributing to timely and accurate financial reporting cycles within the organisation.
Maintain prepayment schedules and fixed asset registers, supporting robust financial controls and asset management practices.
Allocate overhead costs appropriately across departments and recharge where necessary, promoting transparency in cost management.
Assist with BAS lodgements, financial audits, internal systems audits, year-end family office accounting tasks, and other ad hoc duties as required.
What you bring
Demonstrated experience using MYOB applications within an accounts payable or receivable capacity is essential for this position.
Completion or near completion of CA or CPA studies shows your commitment to professional development within the accounting field.
A positive can-do attitude combined with eagerness to learn new concepts ensures you thrive in this evolving environment.
Proactive work habits paired with an interest in automation help streamline processes for greater efficiency across the finance function.
Ability to adapt quickly within a fast-paced setting allows you to respond effectively to changing priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy.

Strong organisational abilities ensure you can manage multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality or deadlines.
Experience handling multi-currency bank reconciliations demonstrates your attention to detail and technical proficiency in complex environments.
Familiarity with period-end closing procedures supports timely financial reporting cycles within the business context.
