Mechanical Fitter

**Overview**:
Morse Air Systems is a mechanical design and fan engineering company based in Ferntree Gully, Victoria. Our company has over 40 years' experience in the design and manufacture of industrial fans and industrial ventilation, and we pride ourselves on our high-end capabilities in industrial fan design as it pertains to a particularly niche sub-section of the mechanical engineering field.

We are looking for a Mechanical Fitter & Industrial Fan Balancing Technician to join the team In this role, the person will take direct instructions from the senior engineers, and production coordinator and to assist in their daily duties and responsibilities. A key feature of the position is to take on the necessary and critical tasks on a multi-project coordination base and safely act on decision-making to ensure deliverables and outstanding product quality. This position is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week based in Victoria.

**Main tasks**:

- Assembly of industrial fans following the relevant national standards and industry good practices.
- Perform in house dynamic / Static balancing on Schenck - H40/H30/H20 Schenck balancer machines to the ISO standards required as per duty of the equipment operating speed.
- Responsible for maintenance records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance related matters. Prevent failure of equipment using all possible information and data available. Identify short medium and long-term action plans and maintenance strategies for equipment.
- Mechanical fan installations and commissioning of turnkey projects.
- To do onsite repair, maintenance, and replacement of all sorts of bearings, spherical roller bearings, split bearings, white metal bearings which operates in either oil or grease.
- To do onsite visit inspections to assess conditions of equipment to be replaced, repaired, or maintained. Be able to provide a technical formal written report.
- To check components required for assembling, cross-check delivered items against engineering drawings, and report non-compliance to predict delays and improve workflow performance.
- To actively act/react on critical jobs and decide in absence of management, during breakdown or remote projects to guarantee delivery with safety and quality that meets the client's expectations.
- Assist with assessing repair jobs and completing engineering reports with recommendations for the scope of work.
- Supports management with managing budgets and monitoring expenditures.
- Provides consulting services and performs mechanical pre-commissioning checks for fans, including balance, alignment, and vibration analysis.
- Assist with tracking/compiling costings to provide feedback to sales.

**Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience**:

- Year 12 completion and tertiary qualifications highly desired, although significant industry experience will be accepted in lieu of a relevant qualification
- 15 years' experience withindustrial fans / heavy industry / manufacturing industry / field technician / maintenance and balancing.
- Minimum 45,000 hours' experience on equitant machines
- Minimum 60,000 hours' on/off-site experience on Smart Balancer, SMC smart balancer / Falcon analyser, CX Balancer and similar instruments
- Minimum 60,000 hours' experience on/off-site experience on all types of fans (single width, double width, axials and multi-vanes) to rollers, rotors, pumps and choppers

**Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge**:

- Product knowledge of Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, Rockwell, and ABB suppliers
