An exciting opportunity to join South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD). A senior level 3 Diversional Therapist will join the Transitional Aged Care Service at Sutherland Hospital (STACS). The role collaborates with the wider MDT to enhance the social wellbeing of participants after acute hospital admission and during home-based rehabilitation. The position supports participants to identify and engage in long-term social activities with community providers to reduce social isolation and premature entry to residential aged care. The incumbent will establish, monitor and review the outcomes of the position in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager and Senior district Diversional Therapist.
What you'll be doing
The SESLHD vision is "exceptional care, healthier lives". The role plans, coordinates and applies in-depth clinical expertise and specialised knowledge within Diversional Therapy to provide high-quality care to clients on the Transitional Aged Care Program in line with NSW Health policies, procedures and standards. Responsibilities include supervision, quality improvement initiatives, education delivery to other healthcare professionals, and teaching students on clinical placement.

Selection Criteria
Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning (Health Science or Applied Science bachelor's degree in leisure, recreation or diversional therapy, recognised by the Diversional Therapy Association of Australian National Council).
Extensive postgraduate clinical experience in Diversional Therapy with aged care clients.
Excellent negotiation, decision-making and advocacy skills with the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to provide high-level clinical advice, education and support to others in delivering service excellence.
Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply advanced reasoning and independent professional judgment in novel, complex or critical situations.
Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes.
Demonstrated active participation in developing, implementing and reporting on services.
Current NSW driver licence and willingness to travel as required.
