About the role The School welcomes applications for the role of Head of Department (HoD) - Modern History.
This is a full-time and ongoing position commencing from Term 1 2026.
The responsibilities of the incoming HoD of Modern History will include supporting and growing the embedded excellence in the teaching of History as a discipline, curriculum development and the administration of History programs for Years 7 to 12, with a particular emphasis on the senior years.
Additionally, the HoD of Modern History will promote a collaborative and high-performing culture within the Department.
The Head of Department Modern History works collaboratively with the Head of Department Ancient History and other History-based PARs in the Faculty.About you The successful applicant will possess: Excellent collaborative teaching practice Expert knowledge in the QCAAs compliance standards (not essential but preferred) Relevant teaching qualifications A comprehensive understanding of and expertise in teaching History Experience in the development of curriculum and assessment Leadership and collaborative skills and a commitment to maintaining a high-performing school culture A current Queensland College of Teachers registration.
