Lead, Inspire & Transform Lives with Berry Street's Take Two Team
Who is Take Two?
Take Two is a state-wide, trauma-informed therapeutic service supporting infants, children, young people, and families impacted by trauma, neglect, and disrupted attachment. Operating under Berry Street, Take Two collaborates with the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, community service agencies, and research institutions to deliver intensive intervention programs and drive best-practice approaches in the sector.
The Berry Street School is a specialist independent school that supports around 200 students from years 7 to 12. There are 4 campuses across Victoria in Ballarat, Morwell, Noble Park and Shepparton. Students at the Berry Street school have become disengaged from mainstream education. They come from a variety of backgrounds: some have experienced bullying in mainstream schools and some are in out-of-home care (foster, kinship and residential care). This means they often have gaps in their learning.
These students need individualised support to keep them on track with their learning and make sure they have the same opportunities as their peers. Without this support, young people are at risk of disengaging completely from school, which can lead to poorer life outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
The school psychologist will provide clinical services to the Berry Street School – Morwell campus. Including the completion of psychological assessments (cognitive, educational and social-emotional); capacity building of Berry Street school staff, specifically increasing knowledge and practice regarding the impacts of developmental trauma on learning and behaviour.
The psychologist may also be allocated clinical work from other Take Two programs dependent on demand and case load. In this position you will:
Conduct cognitive, social-emotional and educational assessments using restricted psychological assessment tools to understand the student's level of functioning and educational support needs.
Conduct assessment on the impact of trauma, neglect, and abuse experiences on the child's development and functioning as needed.
Provide counselling and therapeutic interventions for children, young people and their families.
Provide secondary consultation and advice to school staff and families/care-givers.
About You
We are seeking a Psychologist who has current AHPRA, Psychology Board of Australia, registration. You will have a sound understanding of the complexities of the Child Protection and Education service systems, a demonstrated ability to provide direct service in the clinical assessment and treatment of young people and families, and a sound understanding and demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and workers.
How to apply
Apply now to become a driving force in the Take Two team—together, we can shape brighter futures.
Applications including resume and cover letter addressing your suitability for the position to be submitted by midnight, Monday 14 July 2025 applications will be reviewed as they come in.
For role queries please contact Kate Ward - Clinical Manager, Take Two on .
Please Note; the successful applicant will be subject to comprehensive reference and background checking prior to employment, including a Working with Children Check and National and International Police check if required and Victorian Carer Register clearance if applicable.
Berry Street is committed to being a child safe, child friendly and child empowering organisation. In everything we do we seek to protect children. We are committed to the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children; children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds; children with a disability; children who identify as LGBTQIA+. We aim to ensure every individual is treated with dignity and respect regardless of their cultural background, ability, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, spirituality or religion.
