About the role
We are seeking a project manager leader and specialist to drive operational improvement in project management and delivery.
This newly created position will provide expert guidance to drive and deliver cross-organisational improvement initiatives across the Operations and Planning, Environment & Strategy directorates.
It will focus on embedding Capital Works project management and delivery and Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) principles, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration, promoting accountability, and ensuring successful project outcomes.
The position will also support the integration of sustainability, service culture enhancement, and Climate Action Plan objectives into planning and delivery of projects, ensuring quality, value and alignment with Council's strategic goals.
Key responsibilities
Provide high quality specialist advice, analysis, and recommendations to the Chief Operating Officer, and to teams across the Operations and Planning, Environment & Strategy directorates.
Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and strategic plans pertaining to these directorates, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
Represent Council in an advisory capacity on relevant internal and external working groups and committees.
Advice provided to the Chief Operating Officer is relied upon for guidance and part-justification for adopting particular policies, which may have substantial impact upon the organisation and/or community.
Analyse complex data, identifying trends, and report finding to identify improvements, and solve complex problems across project management practices.
Proactively investigate industry trends and evolving project methodologies to continually learn and improve project management across Council.
Operate with a high degree of professional independence within agreed priorities, frameworks and policies.
What we are looking for
Proven success in applying project management methodologies to effectively manage the delivery of services, across multi-disciplinary teams.
Demonstrated experience in planning, project management, and continuous improvement in service delivery, working on projects in multi-disciplinary teams within a local government, or similar complex organisation.
A track record of exceptional relationship development, communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to collaborate with customers, stakeholders and Council staff.
Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively with stakeholders (e.g. Councillors, members of the public, service users, employees and other organisations) in order to achieve Council objectives.
