About the School
Opened in 1869 Acacia Ridge State School is a school that is cherished within the Acacia Ridge community. The school has diverse student population with 15% identifying as First Nations people and 33% of students coming from a non-English speaking background. The school sits in a community that experiences socio economic challenges.
Despite these complexities the school has a culture of high expectations for all students. In the past 12 months the school's current improvement agenda has focussed on developing a whole school pedagogical approach of Explicit Instruction. At the centre of this work is a commitment to delivering evidence-based practices that deliver quality outcomes for students.
About the Role
As Deputy Principal at Acacia Ridge SS you will be responsible for assisting the Principal to strategically deliver the Explicit Improvement Agenda. The cornerstone of this agenda will require a commitment to instructional leadership embedded with the principles of Explicit Instruction. Experience working with John Fleming's model of Explicit Instruction will be favourable. Given the complexities of the school community you will be committed to positively building relationships with students and families. The school is committed to developing routines that teach students self-discipline through the principles of Canter and Glasser.
As the Deputy Principal you will have responsibility for the following:

- Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Deputise for the Principal when required.
- Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
- Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
- Manage resources to achieve goals.
