Risk & Governance Consultant (12M Contract)

We are open to applicants in the following locations: Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide.Your day in the life of a Billing and Credit Risk & Governance Consultant at Optus.Each day, you will play a crucial role in managing billing and credit risks from identification to resolution.
Reporting to the Billing and Credit Governance and Compliance Manager, your responsibilities will include:Evaluating the nature of the risk based on likelihood, sensitivity, impact scope, and interim remediation work, using the Optus risk matrix for prioritization.Identifying business ownership, confirming acceptance, managing stakeholders, and supporting remediation activities across various B&C business units.Maintaining the B&C Risk Register and attending monthly change/risk meetings.Preparing risk reports for senior management and collating closure documentation before closing any risk.Collaborating with the Risk Group to reflect B&C risks, maintaining organizational accountability, and leading B&C risk workshops to align risk resolution efforts.Additionally, you will manage regulatory notice responses, maintain strong version control, and leverage instructional guides.
Your role will involve engaging with regulatory bodies such as ACCC, OAIC, ACMA, and TIO to address systemic issues identified.Your primary responsibilities will include handling internal risks and non-compliance issues, as well as supporting risk remediation activities related to financial impacts, including credit adjustments, refunds, write-offs, and debt buybacks.What we're looking forProven experience in credit risk management and remediation.Outstanding attention to detail and ability to work under strict deadlines.Ability to implement clear recommendations for preventative measures to reduce incidents.Strong engagement with Group Risk, Billing, and Credit business units, as well as across other areas of Optus such as Product, Regulatory, Legal, and Customer Success.As the custodian of all policies related to Billing and Credit, you will:Perform annual audits and ensure compliance with Billing and Credit policies, including ID and Activation Policy, Consolidated Credit Management Policy, and Financial Hardship Policy.Link Billing and Credit SOPs and Controls to relevant policies.Maintain a central library of audits and assessments.Record all policy non-compliance items within the Risk register.Perks we love at Optus3 days in the office, 2 days remote, with flexible hours.Inclusive, carer-neutral paid Parental Leave of up to 16 weeks.Competitive leave entitlements, including 2 'Connected Leave' days.Access to resources, webinars, and support via the 'Parents at Work' portal.Opportunities for growth through extensive online and facilitator-led learning programs.Participation in vibrant colleague-led volunteer groups such as Culture Connect, Elevate Women, Disability Network, LGBTQIA+ groups, Veterans, Yarn Network, Wellbeing Network, and Young Professionals.Access to campus facilities including restaurants, cafes, gym, GP, and post office.Free Optus bus service from Macquarie University Metro Station (every 6-8 minutes) during mornings and afternoons.Interested in what it's like to work at Optus?
