The ABC is looking for two reporters, with a minimum of two years' experience in a newsroom, to cover the south-west Queensland region.
These roles are based in Charleville but the successful reporters will spend most of your time in the field covering the area from Cameron Corner in the west, north to Blackall and east to Roma.Journalists in this region deliver news for local and national ABC radio but also have time to develop the skills needed to film and present video stories for ABC 7PM news, News Channel and Landline as well as producing digital stories for Australia's most popular news website.Many of the ABC's most successful reporters have cut their teeth in this part of the world.You will work with colleagues based in Longreach, under the direction of the Western Queensland Editor, and will have access to some of the best editorial training in Australia.
The Job Find and tell compelling stories that reflect the unique character of western QueenslandPrepare and produce compelling audio, video, digital and social media stories for local and national audiencesBuild a strong rapport with local community leaders and engage with stakeholders on behalf of the ABCWork independently and be self-motivated to chase stories and deliver contentDemonstrate initiative and bring creative ideas to your workThese are both Schedule B, Band 4-5 roles attracting a base salary of $81,000 to $99,000 plus 15.4% ABC nominated superThese roles attract an Isolated Locations Allowance, shift penalties and leave loading as per the ABC Enterprise AgreementYou have genuine curiosity of regional stories and will have a strong understanding of issues important to local audiences.
