**About Our Role**:
- Permanent full-time position (commence early / mid-Feb 2025)
- Midlands based - Powranna / Mt Joy (Cressy)
- Support intake / storage & transfer activities for raw materials (potatoes)
Due to business growth, Simplot are seeking applicants for the position of **Area Support **to join our Raw Procurement division based at our Midlands (Tasmania) storage facilities. Raw Procurement comprises farming and harvesting operations to support our annual sourcing of 450,000 tonnes of potatoes and vegetables in addition to leading innovative R&D activities throughout Australia and beyond.
Reporting to the Storage Manager & commencing in early / mid-Feb 2025, the Area Support position will play an active, hands-on role in the management (planning & execution) of on-site storage of raw materials (potatoes) at our world class Powranna / Mt Joy storage facilities in addition to the transfer of potatoes from storage to our Ulverstone based manufacturing facility.
In this Mon-Fri role (with the requirement for additional hours during peak season) the Area Support will work closely with our Team Leaders and wider Raw Procurement & Production functions to ensure business objectives are met whilst aligning with Simplot safety & quality policies.
**What You Will Do**:
- Play an active role in contributing to Simplot safety & continuous improvement activities
- Contribute to the development of an annual plan for the on-site storage of raw materials (potatoes)
- Work with intake team (both permanent and supplementary seasonal employees) to ensure received raw materials are within quality specifications
- Support the Team Leader in the efficient execution of raw material storage activities
- Act as 2IC in the absence of the Team Leader
- Assist with the daily organisation of labour requirements (rostering / time keeping using UKG software)
- Induct and train new members of the team
- Liaise with external cartage contractors for the transfer of raw materials from storage to our production facilities
- Fault finding and facilitate maintenance related activities + manage on-site contractors / trades
- Mobile (forklift) & fixed plant operations
**About You**:
- Possess a 100% commitment to health, safety & wellbeing in the workplace
- Hold a current C class drivers licence (mandatory)
- Knowledge and experience in the receival & storage of raw materials (potatoes) will be highly regarded
- Have a high attention to detail with regard to raw material quality specs, with the ability to work to deadlines
- Possess a problem solving mindset
- Mechanical aptitude (advantageous)
- Intermediate skills with the MS Office suite of products (Outlook / Excel / Word etc)
- Hold a valid LF Forklift licence (or have experience in fork operations and a willingness to obtain LF licence)
- ChemCert would be advantageous
- Possess positive communication skills with the ability to liaise with a wide demographic of stakeholder
