**About the Role**:
- The Contracts Specialist, reporting to the Superintendent Major Maintenance, is responsible for overseeing and managing the operational aspects of Maintenance contracts, ensuring that contractual obligations are met and that partnerships with our business partners drive value for the site.
- The role requires close collaboration with contracting partners, proactive leadership in the field, compliance monitoring, and financial management to ensure site operations are effective, safe, and aligned with organizational goals. The role will also be responsible for the overall site project portfolio management on Planview.
- This role would be a combination of both site and Adelaide-office based, and critical in ensuring that Maintenance contracts are managed efficiently, contractors perform to high standards, and site operations remain safe, compliant, and cost-effective. The Contracts Specialist plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between site needs and contractor capabilities while driving value for the business.
**Location**: Prominent Hill, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)
**Roster**: 5 days on; 2 days off, 4 days on; 3 days off (combination of both site-based, and Adelaide office-based)

**In The Role You Will**:
- Assist in managing day-to-day requirements of site contracts, ensuring adherence to agreed terms, deliverables, and timelines.
- Act as a point of contact for contractors, addressing issues, and resolving disputes promptly to maintain operational continuity.
- Day to day and end of month management of Planview projects portfolio for Prominent Hill Operations.
- Support contractors in achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
- Assist in coaching contractors and internal teams to ensure best safety practices are followed
- Undertake field leadership activities to monitor performance, address concerns, and promote continuous improvement.
- Assist in the development, management and tracking of the sites risk management framework in ensuring critical controls are in place and functional.
- Conduct regular audits of internal operations and contractor activities to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
- Identify and address non-compliance or areas for improvement, escalating issues where necessary.
- Ensure that contractors and the business are working as intended, adhering to relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Track, manage, and analyse costs associated with site contracts to ensure budget adherence and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare accruals and maintain accurate financial records for reporting and forecasting purposes.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost optimization.
- Collaborate with internal teams and contractors to develop and implement innovative solutions and best practices, through the use of the BHP operating system.
**About You**:
- Strong understanding of contract management principles, mining/maintenance operations and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external contracting partners.
- Demonstrated experience in field leadership, coaching, and promoting safety culture.
- Demonstrated experience in project control documentation.
- Proficiency in conducting audits and implementing corrective actions.
- Financial acumen with experience in cost tracking, accruals, and budget management.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to dynamic environments and work under pressure.
