This role suits a technical expert with strong leadership skills and proven experience in drainage, hydrology, and flood risk management within Australia.We are open to candidates based across Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.Role Responsibilities:Lead the planning, design, and delivery of hydrology and drainage solutions for major transport infrastructure projects across AustraliaOversee flood risk assessments, catchment analysis, and stormwater management strategies in accordance with Australian Standards and Austroads guidelinesManage the development of concept and detailed designs for road and rail infrastructure, ensuring integration with surface and subsurface drainage systems, culverts, waterways, and flood protection infrastructureProvide technical leadership and mentoring to multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring high-quality, sustainable, and innovative design outcomesReview and approve hydrological and hydraulic designs, ensuring compliance with local authority requirements and environmental impact assessment protocolsUtilise industry-standard modelling tools (e.g. 12D, DRAINS, TUFLOW, GIS) to perform and validate complex drainage and water management designsCollaborate with internal teams, clients, and key stakeholders (e.g. TfNSW, TMR) to manage project deliverables, budgets, and timelinesContribute to the continuous improvement of design practices, digital engineering integration, and the adoption of BIM technologies within hydrology and drainage projectsSupport bid preparation, resource planning, and technical inputs for project proposals and business development effortsRequired Experience:Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalentMinimum 15 years' experience in hydrology, drainage, and water management for major infrastructure projects in AustraliaChartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalentStrong knowledge of Australian Standards, Austroads guidelines, and relevant local authority requirementsDemonstrated expertise in flood risk assessment, drainage design (longitudinal and transverse), and water catchment analysisProven experience in the delivery of concept and detailed design for major road and/or rail infrastructureExperience in managing and reviewing designs for:Surface and subsurface drainage systemsCulverts, channels, and waterway crossingsStormwater networks and flood protection systemsFamiliarity with environmental and hydrological impact assessmentsAbility to lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, provide technical guidance, and deliver high-quality outputsProficiency with relevant design and modeling software:12D, DRAINS, TUFLOW, and GIS toolsAdditional Preferred Experience:Advanced understanding of hydrology and hydraulics modeling techniquesExperience working on major projects with state authorities (TfNSW, TMR, etc.)Proven ability to manage design budgets, schedules, and resource planningKnowledge of digital engineering and BIM integration in hydrology and drainage designWhat we Offer:A positive team culture, flexible working arrangements, employee benefits, opportunities to be part of unique and transformative projects while learning from industry experts
