**About the role**
This role is to deliver projects and activities that increase the understanding and profile of Glen Eira City Council's organisational and local history and heritage and provide accessible learning and interpretation opportunities for a range of audiences.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Development and delivery of projects and activities to increase appreciation and understanding of local history and heritage and provide accessible learning and interpretation opportunities for a range of audiences.
- Development digital and physical interpretation such as signage, markers and walking tours.
- Work with the History and Heritage Coordinator, RAP Working Group and other relevant stakeholders to develop and deliver resources and programs related to Glen Eira's First Nations history
- Provide advice for a regular program of talks, workshops, tours and events relating to local history and heritage and preservation/conservation, in consultation with Libraries, Arts and Culture team members
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
Work with Glen Eira's History and Heritage Collection undertaking digitisation and collection management tasks as required. In addition, collaborate on projects with local Historical Societies to digitise and care for their collections.
**About you**
You are passionate about preservation and conservation of local history and heritage. You have knowledge of and experience in managing historic material and writing about and sharing history with a diverse range of audiences. Experience in coordinating a number of projects and activities within budgetary constraints. It is desirable to have previous experience working in the public sector.
The following is also required:
- Tertiary qualification in history, heritage, museum studies, or relevant related discipline and/or demonstrated experience in history, heritage, museums, galleries and/or archives
- Experience in using Museum Collection Management System software such as Victorian Collections, EMu, Inmagic/DB Textworks and/or Vernon
- Experience in planning and executing projects within specified timeframes
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for preparation of published documents and reports.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the proven ability to work cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders.
