**The Role**:
Using appropriate knowledge & skills the Bus Service Planner is responsible for providing support to the Service Development Manager in the planning of bus service networks operated by CDC NSW.

The position provides information and reports to both internal and external groups were appropriate.

The compliance of all services and practices with Government Legislation, policies, procedural and Company contractual guidelines is a key component of this role.

**Key Performance Requirements and Duties**
- Ensure that service plans comply with the requirements of the contracts between the

government and CDC NSW
- Develop business cases for new or altered public route and school networks including

patronage and cost/revenue projections
- Assist with design of new networks using land use and behavior data such as activity

centers, travel time (including value), population density, mínimal service levels, based on

relevant service planning guidelines
- Maintain bus service data such as On Time Running, Opal and student listings
- Assist with network implementations
- Awareness of longer-term planning data such as Journey to Work (JTW), Household Travel

Surveys, Local Demand Surveys
- Provide timely, accurate and concise information as required by internal and third parties
- Provide advice on bus related traffic engineering matters where requested / appropriate
- Effectively work with unions regarding service changes, maintaining working relationships
- Work with the relevant authority developing strategic corridors and bus priority works
- Represent CDC at traffic committees, council planning meetings, community meetings,

industry briefings, schools, and other committees as appropriate
- Act as an advocate for public transport in general even when CDC is not directly involved
- Promote a professional and positive image of the company, and acting in a manner

consistent with the company values

**Experience Specifications**
- Ability to establish positive relationships and gain cooperation of staff, and internal and

external stakeholders
- Well-developed communication skills, including interpersonal, oral, and written skills
- Good data analysis skills and ability to produce value added business solutions
- Able to plan and prioritize own work and initiatives to meet agreed deadlines
- Able to work with minimum supervision in a changing and demanding environment
- Capable of interpreting company policies and procedures and reports.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities whilst delivering on agreed timelines.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of CDC's bus services
- Strong PC proficiency, particularly MS Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word. Knowledge or

ability to learn VBA and SQL.
- Ability to learn and work with Hastus scheduling software
- A working knowledge (Tertiary Level) of Economics, Geography, Town Planning,

Transport, Statistics, or other appropriate studies
- A working knowledge of OHSE Laws and Legislation
