A practice in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, is looking for a veterinarian to guide their amazing veterinary hospital to the next level

The team are supportive and understanding. Vets are well-supported by a team of nurses, with five nurses rostered each day, as well as a dedicated practice manager and receptionists.

The goal is to provide gold standard patient treatment and excellent customer service with outstanding follow-up care.

The ideal applicant will have the ability to coach, develop and motivate employees while possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills. Vets should be capable of quality veterinary decision-making and be committed to practicing the highest standards of medicine. Previous experience as a clinical supervisor/lead vet is highly desired, as well as experience in the preparation/management of hospital budgets.

As Lead Vet, the successful applicant will:

- Provide leadership by overseeing and managing veterinarians and the support team in the practice with regards to policies, procedures, and performance.
- Ensuring the overall business and hospital services comply with all regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the hospital meets monthly KPI targets and yearly budget.
- Develop, approve, and maintain veterinary standards of care within the hospital.
- Conduct annual veterinary staff performance evaluations, including identification of training and development needs and providing constructive feedback.

Clinic opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 6 pm. The practice is closed on Saturday and Sunday, so there is no weekend work required

The state-of-the-art clinic is purpose-built, housing a newly renovated surgical suite and clinic, modern consulting and waiting rooms as well as in-house bloods, digital x-ray, ultrasound, IM3 dental equipment. Vets utilise low-stress handling for patients.

Sponsorship (work permit) is available for suitably qualified overseas vets. Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible to register with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of New South Wales.

The area has all the amenities you may need, such as a shopping centre, gym, schools and a cinema. Newcastle is just over a 30-minute drive away.
