Fin Design + Effects is currently looking for Junior level IT support for our Gold Coast and Melbourne Studios. We are seeking a talented and motivated Junior IT Support professional to join our VFX (Visual Effects) team. As a Junior IT Support specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our technical infrastructure and providing technical assistance to our creative team. Your Responsibilities
Technical Assistance: Provide hands-on technical support to VFX artists, animators, and other creative professionals in a fast-paced production environment. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues to minimize downtime and maintain optimal productivity.
Installation and Configuration: Assist with the setup, installation, and configuration of software, workstations, and peripherals used in the VFX pipeline. This includes but is not limited to graphics cards, monitors, rendering nodes, and other essential hardware.
Software Support: Ensure all software applications utilized in the VFX workflow are up-to-date and properly licensed. Respond to software-related queries and assist in resolving any compatibility issues or bugs that may arise during production.
Network Support: Work alongside the IT team to maintain a robust and secure network infrastructure. Assist in troubleshooting network connectivity issues, Wi-Fi problems, and other networking-related challenges.
Backup and Data Management: Collaborate with the IT team to implement and maintain reliable backup solutions to safeguard critical data and creative assets. Monitor and manage data storage to optimize space and ensure efficient access for the production team.
User Training and Documentation: Develop and maintain user-friendly documentation for common technical issues and solutions. Conduct training sessions for VFX artists and other staff members to promote best practices and enhance technical proficiency.
Asset Management: Support asset management systems to organize and track various creative assets used in production, ensuring easy access and retrieval of files as needed.
Hardware Maintenance: Regularly perform hardware checks and maintenance to identify and address potential issues proactively. Coordinate with external vendors for hardware repairs or replacements when necessary.
IT Policies and Security: Assist in enforcing IT policies and protocols to ensure data security and compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Research and Innovation: Stay updated with the latest technology trends and industry developments to propose and implement innovative solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the VFX pipeline.
Qualifications
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory. Equivalent work experience and relevant certifications will also be considered.
Knowledge of VFX software and tools, such as Autodesk Maya, Houdini, Adobe Creative Suite, and compositing software (Nuke, After Effects), will be advantageous.
Familiarity with Linux, macOS, and Windows operating systems.
Understanding of Active Directory, virtualization, remote access systems, basic networking and server administration.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment with a proactive and positive attitude.
