**The Department**
**Position Objective**
The Student Services Officer works closely with the Library and CUC Manager in the identification and
development of student engagement initiatives at CUC Hughenden. The Student Services Officer delivers
the Learning Skills Advisor program providing a comprehensive range of student engagement strategies
providing academic and learning skills, to regional students studying university-level courses. The Student
Services Officer works as part of a team to enhance student learning experiences through a holistic
approach to student support, including the provision of tailored one-on-one and group sessions.

**Key Responsibilities**
**_CUC Operations _**
- Establish and maintain a supportive and collaborative student environment with a focus on student
engagement.
- Being alert to students who may be struggling academically and/or personally, or otherwise at-risk
and provide appropriate intervention and referral, in line with CUC protocols
- Enhance students' engagement, self-efficacy, well-being, and retention by implementing
interventions that support transition and ongoing success in their studies. These interventions include
one-on-one academic mentoring covering referencing, writing, assessment, and study skills,
alongside group sessions and workshops when suitable.
- Assist with the delivery, evaluation and reporting requirements of funded programs and projects.
- Coordinate with external parties to organise education and engagement activities, ensuring the
implementation of suitable agreements. This involves collaborating with university student support
systems and networks.
- Represent the CUC at relevant community events to build and maintain community awareness and
knowledge of the CUC. Contribute to relevant community relations projects as needed
- Build and maintain strong working relationships and collaborate with industry stakeholders to
support education and career initiatives
- Develop Centre-specific processes/procedures where required to improve the Centre's service
delivery
**_Reporting _**
- Monitor, track and report on the status of project deliverables to ensure time, cost and quality metrics
are in line with approved project plans for assigned projects.
- Assess and manage project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
- Work with the Centre Manager and colleagues at CUC Central on evaluation of programs
- Provide Centre Manager with clear and timely information to enable proactive management of the
Centre
- Monitor and collect student data and feedback that relates to Student Services, and maintain an up
- to-date and accessible record of education programs
**_Safety and Environment _**
- Ensure all centre users are aware of and comply with all current CUC Hughenden policies and
procedures
- Regularly inspect facilities and act immediately to resolve or report issues or potential safety risks
- Maintain a safe, healthy, positive and productive environment
- Minimise or eliminate risks
**_Promotion and Marketing _**
- Support Centre Manager to market and promote Library and CUC services via a diverse range of
channels including social media, print, e-newsletters and network meetings.
- Support Centre Manager to develop outreach programs, promotional and other activities that are
customer focussed and responsive to needs of students and potential students
- Follow and adhere to all requirements of Council policies and procedures, and ensure CUC Brand
