**Position Information**:
Picton High School was established in 1958 as a co-educational comprehensive school and services a semi-rural community south-west of Sydney. Picton High School has a current enrolment of 1155 students, including 9 support classes and 10% of students from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background. Due to the anticipated population growth in the local area, Picton High School has recently undergone significant upgrades to buildings, outdoor areas, and physical teaching spaces to accommodate the diverse curriculum provided by the school to meet individual student needs.
Picton High School seeks to educate its students to achieve excellence in all areas of endeavour. The school prides itself on its tradition of sporting and vocational achievement and is recognised for its innovative approach to curriculum, student welfare and learning and support programs. Picton High School has well established links within the local community and its 7 feeder primary schools to create an inclusive learning experience where every child is known, valued, and cared for.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Strong educational leadership, strategic analysis and planning capability, combined with creative problem-solving skills to drive innovative programs and initiatives that lead to the delivery of high expectations and school excellence.
- Outstanding communication skills with the capacity to establish and maintain authentic interpersonal, educational, and cultural partnerships with key stakeholders within the school and broader community.
- Demonstrated capacity as a visible and visionary leader in building a culture of high expectations and high performance of both staff and students to achieve individual, school, and system priorities.
- Ability to lead and drive a culture of continuous improvement underpinned by research-informed pedagogy, data driven practices and targeted professional learning to support student engagement, attainment and high academic achievement.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
