The Australian Centre for Evaluation (ACE) is a newly established Branch in the Australian Treasury. There are multiple opportunities available across a range of classifications at the APS3 - EL1 levels to fill roles in two business units: the Impact Evaluation Unit, and the Evaluation Leadership, Policy and Capability Unit.

**About the Roles**

The Evaluation Leadership, Policy and Capability Unit is responsible for:

- Promoting the Commonwealth Evaluation Policy and managing and maturing content in the Commonwealth Evaluation Toolkit to support better practice monitoring, evaluation and performance management across the policy cycle.
- Reviewing evaluation planning content in selected budget proposals, and working with agencies to strengthen monitoring, evaluation and learning frameworks and approaches in line with the Commonwealth Evaluation Policy.
- Overseeing evaluation capability building efforts, including:

- expanding and deepening the activities of the Commonwealth Evaluation Community of Practice
- designing and delivering selected evaluation training and capability uplift initiatives
- coordinating with agencies who received funding for evaluation capability initiatives through the APS Capability Reinvestment Fund
- developing a strong partnership with the Australian Public Service Commission and APS Academy
- Designing and implementing a Commonwealth Evaluation Capability Development Framework and a Commonwealth Evaluation Benchmarking Program.
- Supporting the ACE to provide leadership on evaluation through:

- presentations, speeches and events;
- establishing new arrangements for coordination and leadership across APS evaluation units;
- collaborating with colleagues across the APS on related data, digital and APS reform initiatives.

**Qualifications and Experience**

As an applicant for positions at the APS3 or APS6 levels, you must demonstrate your:

- experience and/or academic qualifications in evaluation approaches and methods. Experience in relation to developing evaluation plans, frameworks, strategies or procurements - using a diverse range of evaluation methodologies - will be viewed favourably.
- strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information in a clear and persuasive manner to non-technical audiences.
- strong teamwork and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and partners.
- strong organisational skills that allow you to manage your own time and respond flexibly to shifting demands. This includes the ability to deliver while managing expectations, risks, and competing priorities. Project management experience will be viewed favourably.

As an applicant for positions at the EL1 level, you must address the criteria above but you will be expected to show greater depth in the skills or experience required. You will also be expected to demonstrate your:
5. leadership abilities including, for example, in relation to stakeholder management, and project oversight and delivery.

6. experience in capability building or change management, particularly where it relates to evaluation capability or change.

7. experience designing and implementing whole-of-government policy reforms and business process improvements.

8. experience with the Budget and Cabinet process, specifically focused on reviewing or supporting the development of new policy proposals (NPPs).
