Who We AreThe Resilience and Crisis Management Division within PM&C provides high quality advice and support to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet on national preparedness and resilience issues and supports whole-of-government and national coordination of emergency management.
Our mission is to create a safer, more resilient nation.What You Will DoYou will lead the Crisis Planning and Response Team to drive reforms to whole-of-Australian Government strategic all-hazards crisis management response arrangements and capabilities to support alignment with emerging hazard risks and the expectations of the Australian Government and community.The Senior Adviser, Crisis Planning and Response Team, is responsible for the Australian Government Crisis Management Framework (AGCMF), the Crisis Arrangements Committee secretariat, as well as PM&C's Crisis Management function, including management of the PM&C Duty Officer.In a crisis, the Senior Adviser, Crisis Planning and Response Team, represents the department at Australian Government and national crisis meetings, provide situational updates to relevant PM&C SES and the PMO, and supports the PM's role in crisis through formal and informal briefings.
The team also shadows the National Emergency Management Agency's emergency management and response functions.We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced candidate to lead the Crisis Planning and Response Team and work with a range of internal and external stakeholders to support the department and senior executives plan for, and respond to crises.

RCMD provides high quality advice and support to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, including through whole-of-government coordination of emergency management and national resilience.
Our key partners include the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Attorney-General's Department, Defence and other Central Agencies.What You Will BringWe are looking for an energetic, innovative, forward-looking individual who is able to support the team, RCMD and senior leadership during periods of domestic and international crisis, and drive forward critical policy and program work.The Senior Adviser, Crisis Planning and Response Team, is one of the main points of contact for crisis management and is required to work closely with colleagues at DFAT and NEMA.
Experience in dealing with domestic and international crises is desirable.We Are Seeking Candidates Who PossessExperience in domestic policy, program delivery and/or stakeholder engagement.Experience in dealing with domestic and/or international crises and an understanding ofAustralia's crisis arrangements is desirable.A proven ability to collaborate and cooperate.An understanding of government processes including budget, policy development, strategy, planning and decision making.Experience in a Centrals shadowing function is desirable.An ability to apply judgement in formulating advice to the Government.An ability to keep calm under pressure and focused on outcomes – including the flexibility to support PM&C response to crises and other urgent priorities.A drive to deliver quality outcomes for the Australian public and Government and to help colleagues in our partner agencies to do the same.Innovation, curiosity and comfort in both expressing views and valuing the views of others.Experience managing staff to deliver high quality advice while progressing key initiatives and priorities for the department.An existing NV2 security clearance or willingness to acquire one.The Senior Adviser, Crisis Planning and Response Team is responsible for managing the PM&C Crisis Duty Officer function which involves regular reporting on crises of significance to the PM&C Senior Executive and the Prime Minister's Office which may require working outside of usual business hours.Flexible WorkAt PM&C we recognise the broad benefits of offering flexibility in how, when and where work is performed.
