Connecting the Docs is a pioneering program that demonstrates how local initiatives can address national healthcare challenges by placing practitioners at the heart of rural communities.
We aim to shape a healthier, more equitable future through innovative policies.
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from overseas-trained Hospital Medical Officers/Resident Medical Officers (HMO/RMO) who wish to enhance their training in regional Australia.
Our network provides comprehensive healthcare services across Victoria through seven hospital partnerships.
We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated, and motivated HMO/RMOs passionate about patient care and professional development.
Our goal is to train top-tier doctors with high-quality education and support.
Applications are open to suitably qualified HMO/RMOs who will be in postgraduate year 2 or 3 in 2026.
Available rotations include:
Paediatrics/Obstetrics
Anaesthetics/HDU
General Practice
Medicine
Surgery
Emergency
Applicants should specify their preferred rotations in their application.
Victorian Clinical Term Dates:
Rotation 1: 2nd February 2026 - 3rd May 2026
Rotation 2: 4th May 2026 - 2nd August 2026
Rotation 3: 3rd August 2026 - 1st November 2026
Rotation 4: 2nd November 2026 - 31st January 2027
You may work across multiple sites and undertake your rotations in 2026, supporting your Rural Generalist journey.
There may also be opportunities for a two-year contract to pursue an Advanced Skills year in your area of interest.
We support your AMC and AHPRA registration.
Visa sponsorship will be provided to successful applicants.
The registration and visa process typically takes 3-6 months for approval.
Essential Criteria:
PGY2 or higher
Completed AMC1 & 2 - eligible for provisional registration
Clinical competence appropriate for the position
Ability to work collaboratively in a team
Commitment to professional development
