**Who are we looking for?**
We are seeking a Research Fellow to join School of Psychology and Counselling, Faculty of Health.

The Research Fellow will contribute to a variety of research activities examining road user attitudes and behaviours, with the aim of enhancing road safety. Focus areas may include young drivers, tailgating, speeding, distracted driving, road safety advertising, heavy vehicles, fleet safety, and the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and/or older drivers.

The Research Fellow will be located in the MAIC-QUT Road Safety Research Collaboration (MQ Collab), a three-year research program focused on advancing Road Transport Psychology and Road Transport Safe Systems. With over 30 staff and postgraduate scholars, the key areas of research of the MQ Collab include:
(i) improving road safety attitudes and behaviour in support of a positive traffic safety culture;
(ii) improving the safety of young drivers; and

(iii) improving the safety of vulnerable road users.

**What you need to succeed**
- Completion of a PhD in a relevant discipline area (e.g. road safety, occupational health and safety, psychology, public health) in any of the key focus areas including young drivers, tailgating, speeding, distracted driving, road safety advertising, heavy vehicles, fleet safety, and the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and/or older drivers.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research team and proven ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills which will enable the appointee to prepare materials for scholarly and other audiences, such as peer-reviewed journals, industry reports, conferences and community-based meetings.
- Proven ability to engage and collaborate effectively with external stakeholders, including community groups, industry partners, and/or government agencies, to support research initiatives, inform policy and practice, and ensure the relevance and impact of research outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting systematic reviews and/or environmental scans, including the ability to critically evaluate and synthesise relevant literature or data to inform research outcomes.
- Proven skills in study design and data collection methods, including development of in-person data collection tools (such as surveys and interview schedules) and familiarity with or experience in secondary data and its analysis.
- Demonstrated experience analysing and reporting quantitative data and/or qualitative data.
