About The Role
What you see is what you get. By design, our kitchen is an integral part of the club space. Join our Head Chef and his expert team in crafting mouth-watering dishes using only the finest, freshest ingredients, locally sourced where possible, with a sustainable ethos and handled with care. With great food in Lot Two, sophisticated friendly bar areas, and function spaces, we have rewritten what a Club is all about by creating spaces that are vibrant, contemporary and inviting.
We are seeking a Commis Chef to join our friendly, professional kitchen brigade here at Seagulls. Joining Seagulls means you are part of Norths Collective which includes The Greens North Sydney, The Alcott Lane Cove, The Verandah Beecroft, Seagulls Tweed Heads and The Bowlo Bangalow.
Your Key Priorities Will Be
Supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the preparation and cleaning of the kitchen
Supervision of all food preparation to ensure the kitchen is consistently producing high quality meals
Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef with creating menus, recipes and improving dishes to ensure diversity, high quality, freshness and healthiness
Hands on who will jump in other areas where needed
Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and mentor junior staff
Responsible for portion, stock and waste control
Some creativity and high presentation standards
The Candidate
Highly organised with strong communication and personal skills
Experience in working under pressure in a fast environment including working in an a la carte kitchen and prep/function kitchen
Knowledge in food quality control
Chef Trade qualifications
Be a multi-functional chef with experience in functions
Flexibility and available to work a 7 day, rotating roster including weekends and public holidays
Understanding strict health and hygiene standards and Workplace Health & Safety legislation
