Through researching policing practices, strategies and initiatives, the team supports the delivery of high-level strategic direction, service-wide reforms and operational advice, linking the strategic and operational areas of the QPS.Research is conducted closely with the frontline, specialist police officers, and other specialist officers, with a strong focus on:Identifying emerging issues and what worksIdentifying operational needs and feeding back into practice, policy and legislationDelivering rigorous, ethical, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and victim-centric researchPromoting collaboration across the QPS, communities, government agencies, and universitiesQPS is a values-based organisation, with the following values reflecting the standards each member must strive for:Integrity: We are honest, trustworthy and serve the community with the highest standards of professional conduct at all times.Respect: We treat everyone fairly and with dignity, embrace diversity, and consider and value all perspectives.Courage: We serve in the face of adversity and lead by example.At their core, these values represent who we are and what we must do each day to help ensure we are a world-class policing and community safety organisation and deliver on Queensland community expectations.Your key accountabilities include:The core capability requirements for this role are:Evaluate QPS programs and initiatives and consult with other areas of the QPS on evaluation practices, methods and approaches related to domestic and family violence and vulnerable persons.Monitor and review policing practices, strategies and initiatives at state, national and international levels, providing advice on their efficiency, effectiveness and applicability to the QPS.Undertake research into external and internal issues affecting the QPS regarding domestic and family violence and vulnerable persons.Provide well-researched, soundly based and defensible advice to senior management.Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and represent the QPS in meetings to contribute to enhanced service delivery in the area of domestic, family violence and vulnerable persons.Role Requirements:Mandatory:Nil.
While there are no mandatory qualifications required for this role, possession of a relevant degree level qualification with a significant focus on research and/or evaluation would be considered favourably.Other:Applicants are advised that whilst performing the duties of the position they may be exposed to material (written, visual and audio) of a graphic and sensitive nature.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
