**As our Counsellor** you will promote and support the well-being of students from Foundation to Year 6 by developing and implementing programs that address their mental, emotional, and physical health. This position fosters resilience, problem-solving, and social skills while providing one-on-one and group support to students facing challenges like mental health issues, trauma, or family disruptions. It also involves coordinating workshops for parents and caregivers on student well-being.

**Main responsibilities**:

- Focus on promoting resilience, problem-solving, and social skills through targeted programs
- Provide direct one-on-one and group support to students facing challenges such as mental health issues, trauma, or family disruptions
- Manage complex behavioural situations
- Work closely with deputies, the Family Support Coordinator, and Learning Enrichment teachers to monitor and respond to student well-being
- Coordinate and facilitate workshops aimed at educating parents and caregivers on topics related to student well-being
- Observe students and interpret observations
- Assist the Principal and teaching staff in the referral of students and/or their families to local community agencies and specialists, (e.g. Psychologists, psychiatrists)
- Accurately document all interventions and support measures, ensuring that records are kept up-to-date and confidential
- Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and research in the field of student well-being

**What you will bring**:

- A minimum of Certificate IV in Youth Work, Pastoral Care, or an equivalent qualification, and preferably qualifications in education, counselling
- A current Working with Children clearance
- Mandatory Reporting Certification
- Current First Aid certification for Schools and Centres
- Superior communication skills, with the ability to recognise and value each student's abilities and qualities
- Experience in supporting the well-being of children and families, particularly within a school or community setting
- Highly experienced in counselling processes and student behaviour management strategies
- A positive and encouraging demeanour, with the ability to relate effectively to children and their families
- Knowledge of Restorative Practices and contemporary primary teaching and learning methodologies
- Awareness of legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to student well-being
- Personal commitment to the School's Vision, Mission, and Values, with integrity in all action
- Passion for working with and supporting children in their primary education journey
