Primary School Wellbeing Specialist

Our School Counsellor will work closely with students, teachers and parents to promote student well-being and resilience. The successful candidate will have a strong background in counselling and youth work, with excellent communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement programs that address mental, emotional and physical health
  • Provide direct support to students facing challenges such as mental health issues, trauma or family disruptions
  • Manage complex behavioural situations
  • Work closely with teachers and other school staff to monitor and respond to student well-being
  • Coordinate and facilitate workshops for parents and caregivers on topics related to student well-being
  • Assist the Principal and teaching staff in referring students and/or their families to local community agencies and specialists

Requirements:

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work or equivalent qualification
  • Current Working with Children clearance
  • Mandatory Reporting Certification
  • Current First Aid certification for Schools and Centres
  • Superior communication skills
  • Experience in supporting the well-being of children and families, particularly within a school or community setting
  • Knowledge of Restorative Practices and contemporary primary teaching and learning methodologies
