Benefits: Gain knowledge and practical skills to become an underwater photographer and videographer; ideal for interns with an interest in getting their feet wet and getting footage under the water
What you will do
Underwater photographic expeditions: Month-long program includes 20 expeditions; 2 pool-based sessions focusing on techniques to photograph and work with human models underwater; 16 expeditions focusing on photographing and/or filming local marine wildlife (wide-angle and macro)
Cultural expeditions: 2 expeditions focusing on photographing people and local village life
Free diving training: 4 underwater free-diving expeditions; pool-based breath-hold techniques; open water expeditions to photograph local marine wildlife
Open water/land photography: opportunities to shoot star trails, time-lapses and other land-based techniques
Digital workflow: Lectures and practical workshops on Lightroom, Photoshop and Premiere tailored for underwater photography; keywording for stock sites
About the program
The project is an environmental and media company focusing on environmental issues in Africa, always looking for unique and authentic perspectives in their work.
They work with many different clients, ranging from broadcasters, corporations, non-governmental organizations, print media and online news outlets.
Their work is not restricted to water-based work, and you can also get involved in terrestrial work.
They use DSLR cameras in Sea&Sea housings and GoPros, with lighting and accessories to film the coral reefs of the Indian Ocean.
The course will empower you to see and explore the underwater realm with a practical, hands-on approach.
The program includes direct tutorship, practical underwater expeditions, free diving training, digital workflow and post-processing of your photographs.
Open water expeditions: locating and photographing local marine wildlife (e.g., whale sharks, humpback whales) and reef vistas; one expedition focusing on underwater model work (pool-based or shallow water).
