Overview
Hospital Medical Officer (Mental Health) at The Royal Women's Hospital. Fixed term full time position effective immediately to (Part Time negotiable); Parkville location with multiple public transport options available.
Responsibilities
Provide a consultation-liaison perinatal service to women with mental health problems who are inpatients or outpatients of the Women's, supported and supervised by your supervising consultant, including assessment and management of antenatal and postnatal patients, gynaecology, oncology and other women's health patients, and involvement with NICU families.
Work with other staff/units of RWH and provide advice, consultation and support to assist in the care of women with mental health problems.
About You
We are ideally looking for at least a 2nd year HMO who can work as part of an MDT, and under supervisory support from their consultant. The consultation-liaison setting requires good interpersonal skills and ability to de-escalate patients as well as contain staff anxieties around challenging patients.
You'll Bring With You
Registered as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Have at least 18 months experience working as a junior doctor in a public teaching hospital.
Preferably have worked in an emergency setting (e.g., emergency department).
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently (with supervision).
