**About the Department**
- Microbiology utilises state of the art automation and technologies as well conventional manual methodology to generate clinically valuable information for diagnosis and treatment of infections.

**About the role**
- As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will participate in the development and use of new technologies including Kiestra WCA, MALDI-ToF MS, antimicrobial resistance testing and molecular diagnostics.
- A regular day will see you:

- Provide basic technical advice on Microbiology principles to staff
- Process all specimen types both on automated systems and manually
- Participate in R&D projects
- Manage reagents, consumables and other inventories
- Perform quality control testing and documentation
- Decontaminate, prepare and sterilise laboratory equipment

**About you**
- To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:

- Relevant qualifications, knowledge and experience in a diagnostic medical microbiology laboratory including specimen set up
- Competency using a range of relevant computer software
- Good communication skills & ability to work efficiently both independently & in a team
- Demonstrable time management skills with an ability to prioritise and cope with stressful situations and changing work environment.
- Experience with use of various microbiology laboratory automation systems
- Availability to work 24/7 rotating shifts, through day and afternoon-evening shifts; weekdays, weekends, and public holiday. Applicants should also be available to work overnight shift if required. Availability (once trained) to work mostly or frequent afternoon-evening shifts would be considered favourably.
