**About the role**
As a Cadet Surveyor you will utilise your developing technical skills and knowledge to assist in the delivery of geospatial products and services to all areas within the organisation to facilitate the planning, design, construction, and management of Council's vast assets and infrastructure.
As a Cadet Surveyor you will develop the necessary skills to:
- Perform engineering detail surveys and prepare spatial data sets for councils Planning and Design teams to meet the organisations capital and operational requirements
- Conduct survey services for the construction and capture of Council's infrastructure assets
- Progress your registration to perform Cadastral Surveys, under the supervision of the Cadastral Surveyor. Complete relevant searches, locate cadastral monuments in the field, learn fundamental reinstatement principals, peg boundaries, and implement ICC QA procedures
- Use GNSS equipment Total Stations to conduct control surveys
- Use Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) and Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) Equipment to capture ground features and generate 3D point clouds
- Use appropriate survey software to perform office computations, Control Adjustments, and processing of filed capture in accordance with Council's standards and guidelines
Accountabilities under supervision include:
- Provide a variety of survey services to facilitate the planning, design, maintenance and construction of all Council's infrastructure assets to ensure prompt delivery of allocated projects
- Provide assistance to other surveyors within the survey team to complete manual field-based tasks
- Ensure that surveying equipment is properly managed, maintained, serviced and calibrated
**About you**
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Basic knowledge of Surveying practices
- Basic research skills
- Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise own work loads
- Basic computing skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) to enable effective communication with Council's clients (including members of the public) and Council employees
- Demonstrated ability to acquire basic knowledge of Surveying legislation standards, guidelines and practices
- Current Queensland 'C' class driver's licence
Cadets are required to be studying or enrolled in:
- Associate Degree of Spatial Science - major in Surveying, or
- Bachelor of Spatial Science Technology - major in Surveying
**What's on offer?**
This is a Level 2, 15 hours per week (vacation period up to full time) with a salary package commencing at $67,077 plus superannuation of up to 12.25%.
