Communications Officer

. Reporting to the Lead – Marketing and Communications, the Communications Officer is responsible for supporting the delivery of Council's external and internal communications, ensuring consistent, engaging and on-brand written content across a variety of platforms. This position works closely with subject matter experts to craft clear, purposeful messaging and delivering compelling storytelling that supports comprehension and engagement in the work and operations of Council.
The Communications Officer plays a key role in strengthening Council's voice and delivering our strategic objectives through written content, publications, social media, internal communications and promotional materials for a variety of stakeholders and mediums.
Key responsibilities
Delivers communications plans for a wide range of council programs, events, projects and services, engaging closely with subject matter experts to convey accurate and engaging messaging
Develops and publishes social media content with a focus on storytelling
Delivers regular internal communications materials for staff and stakeholders
Leads the creation and publication of written media, including news articles and Council stories
Delivers multi-channel content creation, aligned to council's strategic and business plans
Develops and supports delivery of Council print and digital publications
Builds email marketing and sms marketing content
Represents Council at events and activations from a promotional perspective
Delivers communications content and collateral using branded templates
Develops and publishes digital signage
About you
Appropriate certification in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or a related field, or demonstrated relevant practical experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills for a range of audiences
Sound skills in developing, proofreading and publishing content for print, digital and social media channels
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva
Experience with communications planning and delivery, including working with subject matter experts and a range of stakeholders
Sound skills in marketing and communications systems and platforms
Can build strong relationships and engage with a range of stakeholders
A willingness to learn new systems, skills and programs
Innovative thinking and a practical approach to problem solving and negotiation
Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical and police check
Strong IT skills that enable the use of corporate systems in the day-to-day work activities
South Australian Class C Driver's Licence
Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud would be highly regarded

Salary range is between $83,751 to $89,871 plus the superannuation guarantee and will be negotiated commensurate with skills, experience and qualifications.
