Overview

Responsibilities
As a senior leader within the Trade and International group, the Director, Trade plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the state's trade strategy. Reporting to the Executive Director, Trade and International, this role leads the development and delivery of trade programs and initiatives that support South Australian businesses to expand into global markets, strengthen international relationships and attract trade-related investment. You will lead a high-performing team to deliver the TradeStart program, targeted grant initiatives and market access strategies, while fostering strong collaboration with industry, state and federal government partners and overseas networks. A key focus will be representing South Australia in high-level trade forums and partnerships and driving growth in priority sectors through the development of trade strategies that respond to global trends and local capabilities.
Profile
With a strong understanding of international markets, trade policy and export development, you will be an experienced executive with proven capability in driving cross-sector outcomes, managing complex stakeholder environments and delivering economic impact. Your strategic mindset, exceptional influencing skills and sound judgement will enable you to represent the state with credibility and confidence on sensitive and high-value issues. Experience in trade or related commercial sectors, coupled with strong public sector leadership capability, will position you for success in this high-impact role.
This is a significant opportunity to lead South Australia's international trade efforts and shape the state's global economic engagement.
