We are currently working on projects in which we are rebuilding revetment walls inside a canal. As access is extremely limited, we are required to complete all works via barge. Your position will require you to be responsible for the safety and maintenance of the vessels and barges and ensure clear and diligent management of the crew as well. We work as a team at all times and you will be required to help out with manual labour at times.
**Role Includes**:
- Operating crew boat to move staff to and from worksite
- Operating push boat to move dumb barges
- Operating push boat to move draw bridge rock barge
- Management of the stability of barges
- Accountability for the safety of vessels and crew
- Verifying the operation requirements are understood by all crew and followed at all times
- Ensuring compliance with the SMS and safe operating systems
- Accountability for the maintenance of vessels and barges
- Identifying tide dependent aspects of work and managing a program to suit
- Contributing to all aspects of the construction project
- Manual / physical duties as required. This is not just a boat operation position, you will need to help the construction crews as required.

Help to build and lead a team of operators and construction staff. Teach and develop skills of the crew, lead with integrity and build successful projects on time with good client relationships.

- **Desirable Requirements**_
It is very advantageous to already have experience with operating self propelled barges and pushing dumb barges. The tight constraints of some of the work areas provide a challenge in manoeuvrability. Having a good understanding of how a barge reacts and how to interpret the conditions on the water to best manoeuvre the barge within the site with confidence will play a big part in being successful for the role.
Experience operating machinery to help understand the limitations and the requirements of plant such as excavators and skid steers will help the successful applicant to better deploy the barges in a safe and effective manner.
**Salary**: $36.00 - $50.00 per hour
