SYNOPSIS:
**About the role**:
We're seeking a collaboration focused capability leader to join the Data Administration (DA) team within the Integrations unit at Treasury.

This is a pivotal moment to be a part of the team—we manage a hybrid SQL Server fleet across cloud and on-premise sites and you'll play a key role in shaping and maturing the direction of these platforms.

The Data Administration team works closely with other parts of the Integration unit. We are part of a highly cross-functional working environment, with a keen focus on shared goals and continuous learning.

In partnership with the Team Lead, you'll coordinate the team's delivery of both project and business-as-usual (BAU) work, ensuring resources are aligned and priorities are clear. You will contribute to the implementation of Treasury's evolving enterprise information strategy. You'll also be investigating opportunities on enhancing the delivery of database and other analytical systems, and work with various data aligned teams in other areas of the department.

You'll bring a strong technical foundation, excellent communication skills, and a proactive mindset. As part of a small, agile team, you'll engage with a wide range of stakeholders and systems across the department and within the Information Services Branch.

This is a direction setting role with a focus on team dynamics. You'll contribute directly to ongoing technical operations and future platform initiatives, including:

- Enhancing and sustaining our hybrid database platforms to meet both present operational needs and future strategic goals.
- Lead capability uplift initiatives within the team, including mentoring, knowledge sharing, and identifying opportunities for professional development and technical training.
- Champion data stewardship and compliance practices, ensuring database operations align with departmental policies, privacy obligations, and data governance frameworks.
- Acting as Subject Matter Expert to business areas on matters of database design and performance.
- Maturing cloud-native data solutions in Azure, with a focus on governance and automation.

**Desirable Qualifications / Experience**:
Mandatory
- Demonstrated skills in configuration and administration of all major components of Microsoft SQL Server, including Availability Groups, Reporting, Integration and Analysis Services using both SSMS and TSQL.
- Experience in monitoring health and performance of SQL Server instances to proactively identify and resolve critical events to ensure high availability, performance, and security compliance.
- Experience in troubleshooting data platform related issues and outages.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills, and ability to maintain close, positive working relationships with other support teams and service providers.

Desirable
- Tertiary qualifications in ICT or a related field and/or equivalent experience as a database administrator (3+ years).
- Scripting expertise in systems administration and exposure to analytical systems focused scripting tools and methodologies.
- Proficient in Microsoft development IDEs and source control systems.
- Experience in using Microsoft SCOM in an enterprise level monitoring capacity.
- Experience in administration of Azure based Data Platform services.
