**ASSISTANT MINISTER WITH A MISSION FOCUS**
Menai Anglican Church is a reformed-evangelical church in the South of Sydney with an average attendance of about 650 (including kids) on the weekend. We seek to be a church where people are finding life and hope in Jesus Christ.
Our people are joyful and servant hearted. We have been experiencing some growth in the last few years. Over the last 5 years we have seen 100 people make decisions for Jesus Christ, but with thousands in our area who do not know Jesus, we are hardly scratching the surface.
We are part of the Reach Australia network and are continuing to develop purpose team ministries shaped by focusing on the equivalent of Mission, Maturity, Magnification, Membership and Maturity.
We are seeking for an assistant minister who will oversee Mission at Menai Anglican and who will also serve by being a focus-pastor of one of our Sunday congregations. The man joining our team will be first and foremost committed to Jesus, our church and our staff team, serving with Jesus' people for his glory
**MISSION PURPOSE**
The assistant minister will champion the purpose of mission to see people saved by God through the gospel in ever increasing numbers.
**Role specific responsibilities**
- Build the personal convictions in the congregation that drive mission heat.
- Equip people to confidently share the hope in Jesus they have.
- Develop the already-existing strong teams and oversee systems of outreach that support people coming to Christ.
- Oversee the calendar of outreach events that help see people come to Christ.
- Champion the celebration of new believers in baptisms and testimonies.
- Ensure that the gospel is taught clearly throughout church, and clearly understood. Make sure each step in the evangelism pathway is clear and effective.
- Form and model a culture of God-glorifying, prayer-filled evangelism and generous hospitality.
- Ensure our weekend church gatherings are consistently great for inviting non-Christian and de-churched friends.
- Build partnerships for evangelism and mutual encouragement with missionaries.
- Oversee the training and sending of home-grown missionaries.
- Oversee a team which engages with the local community in
- Partner with other ministries, like youth, kids and SRE to make sure we are reaching the suburbs for Jesus.
**Essential position requirements**
- Biblically qualified to be an overseer in personal, family and community relationships (1 Timothy 3:1-7).
- A strong prayer life and love for the word of God.
- An optimism for the salvation of the lost combined with a realism that enables us review and change what we are doing to reach people for Jesus.
- Experience in leading people to Jesus and enabling others to do so as well.
- Theological training is essential. (Ordination is preferred).
- An ability to work well in the staff team and to lead teams of other people as well.
- We are seeking someone who is a multiplier of ministries, by enabling more and more other people to serve.
**SECONDARY FOCUS**
Depending on the life-stage, gifting of the applicant, there would be a very important secondary role as a Focus Pastor on one of our Sunday congregations: 8am, 10am or 6pm and men's ministry events.
**Start Date**
The position is open from October 2024, but can begin in January 2025.
