**Position Purpose**

The ANPC is a world-class facility led by Murdoch University focused on high-throughput
targeted and exploratory metabolic phenotyping. The ANPC is located on Level 3 of the Harry
Perkins Institute of Medical Research adjacent to the Fiona Stanley Hospital, Western
Australia, and is the largest dedicated facility for metabolic phenotyping in the world. The
ANPC houses the largest collection of mass spectrometers (MS) and nuclear magnetic
resonance (NMR) instruments dedicated to phenomics research.
The Biostatistician will draw experience in clinical biostatistics to provide guidance on
experimental design, data QC and refereeing for all data acquired using the ANPC's multi
- modal analytical and informatic pipeline. The Biostatistician will develop advanced tools to
support the interpretation of unique NMR, MS and immunological data sets and to provide
advice related to predictive statistical methodologies that will ensure optimal representation
of multivariate study factors. The Biostatistician will also coordinate closely with ANPC
Bioinformaticians and technical specialists to deploy high-fidelity computational and statistical
modelling pipelines for large-scale metabolic phenotyping datasets. Key duties include
research study design and sample size calculations, consultation with study investigators,
analysis of clinical and metabolic data using statistical approaches including longitudinal
analysis, mixed effect modelling, logistic regression, model-building techniques,
interpretation and presentation of statistical results and reporting.
The ANPC Biostatistician is PhD or Masters qualified (or possessing equivalent work
experience) with relevant experience in biostatistics, mathematics, chemistry or biology.
Experience with nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS) is
advantageous. The Bioinformatician reports to the ANPC Senior Operations Manager. The
Executive Director of the ANPC is Professor Jeremy Nicholson.

**About the Work Area**

The ANPC is a dedicated facility established for the purpose of performing "industrial-scale"
metabolic phenotyping using an array of state-of-the-art analytical instruments including
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Mass Spectrometers. This role will be responsible for the
multi-modal metabolic data. In particular, the biostatistician will work closely with a dedicated
team involved in a Medical Research Future Fund Project entitled "Molecular phenomic
approaches to improve understanding of Post-Acute COVID-19 Syndrome".

**Key Responsibilities/Duties
1. As directed, to take overall responsibility for statistical design, data analysis,
modelling and preparation of reports for the designated project,

2. Development of research protocols and analysis plans with an emphasis on statistics,
3. Perform sample size and power calculations as well as randomization schedules for

clinical studies,
4. Contribute to the validation of analytical pipelines and datasets,
