Trainee Laboratory Services – Certificate Cert III in Laboratory Services
Townsville City Council is seeking applications for the 2026 Trainee intake. This 24-month maximum term full-time position offers an Earn while you learn opportunity and participation in a Nationally Recognised Qualification pathway in Laboratory Services.
About The Role
Under close supervision, this position undertakes a competency-based traineeship to develop a range of skills in laboratory techniques through formal and on-the-job learning activities. The role involves a range of laboratory operations across various industry sectors, performing straightforward sampling and testing, following set procedures and recipes, and applying well developed technical skills and basic scientific knowledge. The position includes completing a 2-year Certificate III in Laboratory Services at ABC Training. Responsibilities
Undertake a competency-based traineeship to develop laboratory techniques.
Perform straightforward sampling and testing following set procedures.
Support various laboratory operations across industry sectors under supervision.
About You
Willingness to contribute to a positive safety culture and adhere to Health and Safety policies.
Minimum completed Year 10 with passes in English and Mathematics.
Current Working with Children Clearance (Blue Card) or ability to obtain.
Minimum Queensland C class provisional driver's licence (or ability to obtain).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good computer skills and the ability to work well in a team.
Willingness to undertake requirements to successfully complete the associated qualification.
