As a result of recent growth, we're looking for a seasoned, impact-driven full-time engineer to help shape the future of our mobile experience and help define the future of pro-grade music collaboration.LocationIdeally, the successful candidate would be located in the Melbourne area and would be able to work 1 or 2 days per week at the DISCO co-working space in Brunswick with the team.Working remotely may be considered for applicants located elsewhere on the east coast of Australia.The RoleA Senior Mobile Engineer on the DISCO team is both a major contributor and role model in building robust, reusable, and user friendly mobile applications, interfacing with platform APIs, and finding elegant solutions to complex problems.
They guide, mentor and collaborate with other engineers; employ strategic thinking and design knowledge to solve problems; collaborate with cross-functional teams; and help drive a culture of software engineering excellence.The successful candidate will:Build for DISCO - Develop and releasecross-platform mobile applicationsin React Native and contribute to our long-termmobile technical visionWrite production-ready code that is clean, scalable and performance optimised, delivering a beautiful, mobile-native user experienceDesign withmobile performance constraints, offline capabilities, platform conventions, and security in mindParticipate in a culture of documentation and knowledge-sharing within your team and with stakeholdersMake your code easily testable/understood by others, and account formobile-specific edge cases, error handling, and degraded network conditionsContribute to the implementation of tools and processes formobile development, including build systems, over-the-air updates, testing, and debuggingLead planning and discussions for complex projects.
Actively participate and enhance the SDLC processes.
Advocate for delivering value in increments.Keep learning and stay up to date with the latest inmobile development, React Native libraries, and platform best practicesBe an inspiration and mentor for more junior members of the team.The successful candidate will have:7+ years of software engineering experience5+ years working with React Native for a commercially available productDeep understanding ofmobile app architecture, state management, navigation paradigms, performance optimisation, and native platform differences (iOS/Android)Experience withplatform-specific APIs, asynchronous request handling, background tasks, and push notificationsFamiliarity with mobile ecosystem tooling such as Expo and mobile testing frameworks (e.g. Maestro)Written and verbal fluency in EnglishProficiency in GIT source controlAn unrestricted right to work in AustraliaBonus Skills (Nice to Haves)Experience designing or integrating withmobile design systemsFamiliarity with native mobile development (Swift, Kotlin) or bridging native modules in React NativeAt DISCO, our employees have told us what benefits mean the most to them, and we've listened.
