While applications are welcome at any time, the first round of recruitment will close on 1 October 2025.About UsThe Australian and Queensland governments have jointly committed $9 billion—an 80:20 funding arrangement—for the Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program (BHTSP), marking the largest single investment in the highway to date.
This initiative aims to reduce crash severity and frequency, particularly between Gympie and Cairns, through measures such as wide centre line treatments, audio tactile line marking, intersection upgrades, rest areas, pavement strengthening, overtaking lanes, and upgrades to narrow structures, with completion targeted by 2030.
It builds on over $6 billion in planned investment under the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) 2024-25 to 2027-28.
