**Who are we looking for?**

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Orthopaedic Biomechanics to join School of Mechanical, Medical and Process Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Academic Division.

Located within the School of Mechanical, Medical and Process Engineering, this position will be situated with the ARC Industrial Transformation and Training Centre for Joint Biomechanics (ARC ITTC-JB). The Postdoctoral Fellow will advance knowledge of skeletal biomechanics in healthy adult people through a highly multidisciplinary approach, combining elements of experimental mechanics, imaging, modelling and motion analysis.

The School of Mechanical, Medical and Process Engineering delivers education and research into the design, manufacture and operation of Biomedical, Chemical and Mechanical systems and processes.

The School builds on the engineering principles of Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Materials Engineering to create new and emerging technologies including Biofabrication, Advanced Manufacturing and Chemical Processing.

**About the Centre**

**ARC ITTC for Joint Biomechanics **is a collaboration between QUT, University of Queensland (UQ) and University of New South Wales and is based in the School of Mechanical, Medical and Process Engineering (MMPE). The Centre aims to bring together leading researchers, industry partners and end-users to train a new generation of interdisciplinary and skilled graduates to tackle industry-focused challenges in joint biomechanics. It will provide advances required to transform personalised surgical treatment of joints through integrated technologies of computer tools for pre-surgical planning and decision making, computer simulation systems and robot simulators for surgical training, and medical device assessment, and post-surgical assessment tools.

You will also be an active researcher with an exciting and developing research profile that strives to create impact and change and contributes to cutting edge knowledge.

You will demonstrate:

- Completion of a PhD qualification in Mechanical Engineering / Medical Engineering or closely related fields, with experience in Biomechanical Engineering
- Demonstrated academic research experience in biomechanical engineering evidenced by publications in high quality research journals and conferences.
- Demonstrated experience in grant writing and securing competitive research funding.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and the wider research community.
- Demonstrated experience and successful track record in supervision of honours and higher degree research students
- Proven ability to use initiative and contribute new ideas to the research of orthopaedic biomechanics, along with a demonstrated adherence to ethical standards in research confidentiality
