Job Description
As a Post Doctorate Research Fellow, you will work on the ARC funded Future Fellowship "Resilient elections: How to Strengthen Our Democracies" under the supervision of the Project's Chief Investigator, Ferran Martinez i Coma, Professor and ARC Future Fellow. You will take part in data collection and analysis and other research activities as negotiated with the Chief Investigator and work on publications with the project team as well as on your own. You will also develop feasible measures and strategies to strengthen elections, and therefore democracy, with relevant election stakeholders.
You'll take on complex national and global challenges, using your skills and experience to undertake in-depth case studies in Australia, India, Indonesia, and North America, and large-scale global quantitative analysis, with expected outcomes including new theoretical insights into electoral resilience.
What we can offer
This is a fixed term (3-year), full-time position, based at Griffith University's Brisbane South (Nathan) campus where the successful applicant will be based for the duration of the position. We offer hybrid working, where it is expected that you are on campus 3 days a week with an option to work from home in the Brisbane area on the remaining 2 days.
Set to open in 2027, our new location in Brisbane's CBD represents an exciting, fresh chapter for the University and our students. Located within the heritage-listed Treasury Building, our Brisbane City (CBD) campus will be the new hub for our information technology, business and law disciplines. Our Brisbane City (CBD) campus will offer unprecedented access and proximity to government, industry, community and not-for-profit organisations. With extensive internal renovations soon to be underway, it will also offer cutting-edge teaching, learning, research and events spaces.
Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be Academic Level RF1.4 range $100,206 - $103,888 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $117,241 - $121,549 per annum.
Qualifications
You will have:
- A PhD in a relevant field, including but not limited to political science, public policy or cognate discipline.
- An emerging track record of peer-reviewed publications relevant to the ARC research project.
- An established interest in electoral politics research, and/or one of the research areas examined in this project (please refer to the link for more details).
- Experience conducting data collection and undertaking high level quantitative data analysis and programming.
- Experience in conducting qualitative research, including document analysis and interviews (desirable).
- Experience working collaboratively as part of a research team to achieve research objectives and produce research outputs (desirable).
- Experience in communicating research effectively to diverse stakeholders, including academic audiences (desirable).
