You'll work alongside our Senior Finance Officer , learning the ropes of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general finance administration in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.About UsRare Cancers Australia (RCA) is a leading advocacy and support organisation dedicated to improving the lives of Australians affected by rare cancers.
Through innovative programs, support services, and national advocacy, we aim to ensure no one faces cancer alone—no matter how rare their diagnosis.We are committed to maintaining a collaborative and compassionate workplace where team members feel supported, valued, and empowered to make a meaningful impact.About the RoleThis full-time, 12-month traineeship offers the opportunity to :Gain hands-on experience in finance administration, including accounts payable, receivable, and payrollProvide support in data entry, invoice processing, bank reconciliations, and record-keepingAssist with general administrative duties in a not-for-profit finance environmentLearn industry software and systems (e.g. Xero, Employment Hero)Work as part of a collaborative, friendly teamComplete a Certificate III or IV in Business or Accounts Administration (with dedicated time during work hours to study)This is a fantastic entry point for someone passionate about finance and administration, with a genuine interest in building a long-term career in the sector.What We're Looking ForWe're seeking someone who is :Friendly, reliable, and eager to learnA great communicator with good attention to detailComfortable using Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)Organised and able to manage their time effectivelyCommitted to the values and mission of RCANo prior experience is required—just the right attitude and a willingness to grow.Competitive trainee wage in line with the National Training Wage ScheduleNot-for-profit salary packaging up to $18,500 per annumA supportive and flexible workplace with mentoring and development opportunitiesReal-world experience and a nationally recognised qualification upon completionOpportunities to grow within a respected, purpose-driven organisationPersonal Attributes :Friendly and professional mannerReliable and punctualEager to learn and contribute to the teamAble to take initiative within the scope of training and supervisionCollaborative and respectful in all interactionsPassion for supporting the mission of Rare Cancers Australia and making a positive difference in the lives of patients and familiesHow to ApplyTo be considered, please submit a current resume and a brief cover letter outlining your interest in the role and any relevant experience or study (please combine into one document).
